Cymbalta® patient assistance programs help save patients money on Cymbalta® by offering up to a year's worth of medication (in 120-day supplies) free of charge. Cymbalta® is the brand name for duxloxetine, a prescription medication used to treat generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), major depressive disorder (MDD), fibromyalgia pain, and diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain. It is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, a class of medications also called SNRIs, and works to stop pain signals to the brain and help create an overall mental balance by increasing the amount of norepinephrine and serotonin.

Cymbalta® is a prescription medication used in the treatment of depression and generalized anxiety disorder. It is also used to treat pain and tingling due to fibromyalgia and diabetic neuropathy. Manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, Cymbalta® is approved by the FDA for patients 18 years of age and older. Side effects may include upset stomach, bowel irregularity, reduced appetite, increased sweating, dry mouth and drowsiness.
Cymbalta® is available in 20 mg, 30 mg, and 60 mg delayed-release capsules. It is typically administered once or twice daily. As with other antidepressants, there is an increased risk of suicide with Cymbalta®. This side effect is most prevalent among youth and younger adults. This is most likely to occur at the beginning of treatment or just after the dosage has been altered.

The Lilly Cares Foundation Patient Assistance Program helps patients who are being prescribed Cymbalta® by offering a money-saving alternative to high prescription costs. Eligible patients receive a year's supply, 120-day at a time, of free Cymbalta®. Eligible patients must be a citizen of the U.S. or its territories, not be covered by a private insurance or be entitled to a Medicare Part D prescription plan. In addition, patients must meet certain income requirements.
- Individuals in the continental United States must not make over $34,000 per year, couples may not make over $46,000 per year, families of three cannot earn more than $58,000 a year, families of four cannot make over $70,000 a year, and families of five cannot earn more than $82,000 a year.
- Patients living in Alaska cannot earn more than $42,000 a year for singles, $57,000 for couples, $72,000 for a family of three, $87,000 for a family of four, and $102,000 for a family of five.
- Individuals living in Hawaii cannot earn more than $39,000 for singles, %53,000 for a family of two, $66,000 for a family of three, $80,000 for a family of four, and $94,000 for a family of five.
If a patient doesn't meet the income or insurance guidelines, they are still eligible to try out Cymbalta® at no cost for a month. A printable coupon may be accessed via the Cymbalta® website. Once the patient has printed the coupon, they may take it to a pharmacy, along with a doctor's prescription, to get the free Cymbalta® supply.
