About Spiriva

Spiriva® is a brand name for the generic drug tiotropium, a medication that helps to stop users from experiencing shortness of breath as well as other breathing difficulties associated with COPD (short for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Conditions classified as COPD include emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Spiriva® is a bronchodilator, and eases COPD symptoms by allowing air passages to open more fully, thus enhancing flow. Spiriva® comes in the form of a powder capsule that is used along with an inhaler. It may be taken once or twice each day, and is not intended for emergency use when breathing problems arise.[5]
